ABC Challenge: Y is for YouTube

Very near to the end of the ABC Challenge now, today is the letter Y and the nails I have done are for YouTube. Shame the topcoat smudged the red in to the white a little.

Swatch: Seventeen (17) - Rock Hard Nail Effects Blue

seventeen-17-rock-hard-nail-effects-blue-textured-nail-polishThis is a quick swatch of some new polish! The brand is Seventeen which is the rebrand of 17, a Boots own make up brand. From the look of this it looks very similar to the Barry M textured polishes. I don't own those as they were way too colourful for me to want! They were all pastel, I much prefer this dark coloured one, I also got the black. This I would describe as a navy rather than a blue which the name suggests. On the nail in doors it looks black.

This is not the same as the Nails Inc Leather effect polishes as it is more of a gritty finish.

Finish: Textured, gritted, doesn't catch hair etc.
Brush Type: Wide and flat, not as wide as OPI
How Much? 10ml

Tutorial: Dita Von Teese Nails / Nude Half Moons

I thought it was about time I did another nail tutorial and the first thing which came to mind was Dita Von Tease nude half moon nails. Looks very classy and has a nod to the 1950's trend.

What will you need?
Hole reinforcers - You can get a pack of these in WHSmith, Rymans any stationary shop, eBay also has some. Under £2 for 500 of these makes for a very cheap manicure, as you can also use them for french manicures if you like too.

Red Polish - I used Miss Sporty 160 a shimmer red
Base coat
Top coat

So paint your nails with a base coat, wait until that is dry then using the hole reinforcers cut in half stick them on to your nails like this;

Paint on your nail polish, working one nail at a time, and then quickly remove the reinforcer

Once it is dry then topcoat the nails, and that is you done.

If you like the look of these nails I have also done a tutorial with a coloured half moon rather than a beige.  Both are really easy to do and makes any length nail look lovely.

Swatch: Girly Floam

swatch-girly-floam-ninja-polish-nail-Venturous-nail-polish-matte-glitter-enigmatic-ramblesSwatch: Girly Floam

Floam polish was originally concocted by Nail Venturous and was a green and yellow matte glitter. Since then there has been an agreement where Ninja Polish makes the floam. Since the original was a complete hit there has been around ten different and new versions which you can find here.

This is Girly Floam, which is matte glitter in a clear base polish. The glitter is a light is a light pink and a mid lilac. Below is four coats of the glitter, and at that point it was getting a little thick. Next time I wear this I will be layering over a purple or pink polish.

I found this was quite textured as you can expect from a glitter polish. So I had to add a topcoat, which of course killed the matte effect, but I guess if you wanted that back you could use a matte topcoat over the topcoat to smooth it out.

No top coat, four coats of Girly Floam

Review: Lush - Rose Jam Bubbleroon

lush_rose_jam_bubbleroon_review_enigmatic_ramblesWhat is a 'bubbleroon'? Basically it is a bubble bar which you crumble under a running tap in the shape of a macaroon.

What do Lush say?"A bath that helps you get out of it feeling better than when you got in. With lemon to bring clarity and alertness and rose to lift the spirits. The geranium oil in here will balance the skin, whilst the coconut oil and shea butter will leave you feeling smooth and soft. This smells of roses, with the sweetness of jam".

What do I think?I was in need of relief, I was suffering with an exceptionally painful shoulder / neck and thought a soak would help. Which I think it did, not massively but enough to knock the edge off! I don't think it was solely down to the bubbleroon, more to do with the warm water. I did feel a bit better after the bath, like I could carry on with the rest of my day and that I think was down to the Lush bath experience.

lush_rose_jam_bubbleroon_review_enigmatic_ramblesWhen I think of rose scented things it isn't something which appeals, I imagine it being a scent for the more mature woman. This isn't like that thankfully, less floral but not sweet. The scent didn't linger on my skin for too long afterwards.

My skin didn't need body lotion afterwards which was great. I easily twisted the two halves apart and only used one half in the bath, it created a reasonable amount of bubbles but wouldn't describe it as a decadent bubble bath.

Would I repurchase?
I got this for Christmas as a gift and while it was nice to try something new, I would prefer to repurchase a luxury bath melt. For skin moisturising and pick me up qualities that would be 'You've Been Mangoed'.
