Lush: Coal Face or Dark Angels?

So you are in the market for a new facial cleanser, and you have decided to go for either Coal Face or Dark Angels. So how to pick between the two? Well you could always ask in a Lush branch, the staff are usually quite knowledgeable about their products. If not then hopefully this guide will help.

"Where angels fear to tread. We invented this as an alternative to Angels on Bare Skin for people with oilier skins. Rhassoul mud, charcoal and black sugar combine to create a very absorbent and exfoliating cleanser" - lush.co.uk

"Designed for oilier skins, this soap is gentle enough for the face, but don’t stop there, what’s good for the face is great for the body too. Coalface includes liquorice infusion for softening and charcoal which absorbs grease and gently exfoliates the skin" - lush.co.uk

Both are similar in terms of being aimed at the same skin type; combination / oily skin type. Coal Face is a bar of soap essentially and is easier to work with compared to the paste Dark Angels which you have to add a little water to in order to create a paste.

Both do a great job of cleansing the skin, both make your face black so you have to be careful when rinsing it off your face if you were at a sink rather than in the shower as it may stain your clothes.

Coal Face does have little bits in it which does exfoliate your skin, where as there is a lot more grit to the Dark Angels.

So if you are looking for something easy to use daily then I would recommend Coal Face.

Looking for something to exfoliate with a couple of times a week, which is a little more difficult to work with then Dark Angels.

Really there is a place in your cleansing routine for both products if you have oily skin. If you do venture in to a physical shop then you can ask for the advice of the sales people and even ask for samples, this will really help you to decide which of the two you prefer to purchase if not both of them.

Review: Spiked Bracelet

Maxnina is a online store which sells wedding dresses, clothes and jewellery and do free shipping worldwide. I was sent this bracelet to review; Silver Exaggerated Tapered Personality Bracelet. Quite a mouthful!

This is the silver bracelet, but it also comes in gold. It looks as if it is made from metal but the spikes are so light they have to be made from plastic. Not that that distracts from the look, I have worn actual metal spiked bracelets and cuffs before and when layering those up it can get quite heavy.

I think alone it looks a little lonely so I would style it with more bracelets to give it a more layered look.

All of the others are from Primark except the skull bracelet which you can get from BuyInCoins (for 67p inc p&p!).

Shipping from China to the UK was around 3-4 weeks for the jewellery which is about average, unless it is December then it takes a lot longer. It came well packaged inside of the plastic pouch and inside of a padded envelope.

Time Period Challenge: 1920's

So I could have gone all Great Gatsby with the nails today, then I was thinking of doing a semi-opaque pinky wash, but that wasn't really interesting enough for me. Ended up going to a half moon which originated in the 1920s, with a rounded french tip, I found my inspiration from here.

Review: Veet - Easy Wax Electrical Roll-On Kit

I was sent this Electrical Roll-On Kit for reviewing purposes. My preferred method of hair removal is shaving, I find it works (although I am forever nicking my knees and ankles) in the past I have dabbled with cold wax strips, hot wax (microwavable wax), depilatory creams and plucking.

While I did like to use cold wax strips on my legs I found that they didn't get all of the hairs out of my legs, also it left me with what looked like blood blisters. Hot wax while it does a good job at getting all of the hairs out I managed to burn myself with it (very off putting), and it was exceptionally messy getting anything and everything sticky. Depilatory cream works around 90% on me but I find the smell awful, plus you have to keep you arms in the air for five minutes while it gets to work if you want to use it on arm pit hair.

Review: ELF Mineral Lipstick - Fiery Fuchsia

elf-eyes-lips-face-mineral-lipstick-swatches-swatch-fiery-fuchsia

"Now you can hydrate your lips and get a lasting soft colour naturally! The sleek lipstick has superior colour payoff, glides easily onto lips, and is long wearing. All our mineral makeup is 100% mineral based with no parabens, no preservatives and no chemical dyes" - ELF UK

elf-eyes-lips-face-mineral-lipstick-swatches-swatch-fiery-fuchsia

Out of all the mineral lipsticks I have this is the only one which has a little bit of a sheen or golden shimmer running through it. It isn't a heavy glitter so it is defiantly a wearable lipstick. I find it wears well, but the shimmer tends to stick to the lips which is a little bit odd but not something you would notice unless you were looking closely. A great lipstick for daytime as it is such a your lip but a bit snazzier sort of a lipstick.
