Nail Polish Battle 2017: Winner!

So we left off on the top three polishes of 2017 and today I find out which is the winner.

Holographic Lights // Spirit of the Moors // In Robe and Crown

Firstly is Holographic Lights, which was the first nail polish in sometime from the high street which made me excited for polish again. Not since the days of GOSH and the original Holographic has there been a polish this spectacular so easily available. That said it is too bright to win this particular challenge.

In second place is Spirit of the Moors, a bright blue holographic finish polish. Really vivid and something I always get comments on whenever I wear it. While I have darker blue holographic polishes and lighter ones also this is definitely a stand out. Bright and vivid and stunning, but for me this is too bright to win, I am drawn to darker things.

And so the winner has to be In Robe and Crown, which is the darkest of the three polishes in the top three. It is described as a "dark lavish red garnet resplendent in its prismatic hologram light". It is a deep purple with aubergine and garnet in there, along with the stunning formula and holographic finish you get with A England polishes. This is a polish I would wear as is without adding extra too which is rare for me to do. I love this polish!

Nail Polish Battle 2017: Top Three

Having now gone through all of the various categories this post is pulling together all of those winners and then working out what are the top three polishes I have acquired in 2017.

Barry M - Cotton // Barry M - Holographic Lights // A England - Rose Bower // A England - Spirit of the Moors // Barry M - Copper Dreams // A England - In Robe and Crown

Cotton is a great staple white, however useful it may be in my collection it isn't going to win this battle, it just isn't exciting enough.

Rose Bower, is a stunning vivid pink polish, I don't usually like pink polishes but this one is pretty special. Not special enough to win though, because it is ultimately still a pink.

Copper Dreams, a great autumnal duochrome but for me it isn't that extra bit special enough to make it to the top three.

And so the top three of 2017 are;

Holographic Lights // Spirit of the Moors // In Robe and Crown

One last post to come to find out what my top nail polish of 2017 is.

Nail Polish Battle 2017: Blues

The blue category is large with nine polishes.

Barry M - Huckleberry // Barry M - Sky Blue // Barry M - Elderberry // Barry M - Blueberry // Nails Inc - Baker Street // A England - Order of the Garter // A England - Spirit of the Moors // Barry M - Blue Jade // A England - Proserpine

I did manage to get them down to my top three;

Nails Inc - Baker Street // A England - Spirit of the Moors // Barry M - Blue Jade

Baker Street blew up a few years ago when Beyoncé wore it. It is a cream finish polish which is quite vivid.

Blue Jade was a late comer in to my collection, it is nice I think for this time of year, a deeper blue than Baker Street but it is a bit more of a smoky blue.

Spirit of the Moors was one I was gifted for my birthday, it is a bright blue which holographic. Which if you have been following this series you will know is one of my favourite finishes.

Nail Polish Battle 2017: Purple and Green

Purple and green polishes are today's 'battle'.  There are 12 in this section which made whittling them down more tricky.

Barry M - Fondant // Barry M - Dark Side of the Shroom // Barry M - Slip Stream // Barry M - Oasis // Barry M - Kiwi // A England - Whispering Waves // A England - Love is Enough // Barry M - Watermelon // Danglefoot Polish - In the Library with a Nail File // Barry M - Purple Hex // A England - In Robe and Crown // Barry M - Cocoa

So the three I chose were;

Barry M - Oasis // Danglefoot Polish - In The Library with a Nail File // A England - In Robe and Crown

Oasis is a dusty purple cremé polish, a very basic polish but a staple.

In The Library with a Nail File, this was the last edition to my polish collection in 2017. It is a duochrome, shifting from purple to green, with a couple of flakies thrown in there for good measure. As it is a duochrome is it hard to photograph that shift.

Can you believe these two are the same polish!?

As beautiful as the previous two polishes are, In Robe and Crown won the round. Holographic nail polishes are my favourite finishes, this one is a deep purple, verging on aubergine. Stunning!

Nail Polish Battle 2017: Metallic

Today I am looking at metallic polishes, I only have five of these so this round wasn't as difficult.

Barry M - Pink Ice // Barry M - Bronze Bae // Barry M - Copper Mine // Barry M - Copper Dreams // Barry M - Gingerbread

To begin with I got rid of Pink Ice and Bronze Bae.

Barry M - Copper Mine // Barry M - Copper Dreams // Barry M - Gingerbread

Copper Mine is a warm copper toned polish, its a nice rich copper shade which is different to a lot of the polishes I have in my collection.

Gingerbread was a Superdrug limited edition polish from A/W 2016. It is a glass flecked bronze shade which I really like for autumn.

Ultimately I went for Copper Dreams as the winner of this round, it is another Superdrug limited edition, this time from A/W 2017. This is a shimmer, glass flecked polish which is much more red toned than Gingerbread. Again it is something different in my collection.

Nail Polish Battle 2017: Nude and Pink

Today is the turn of nude and pink polishes, of which there are nine.

Barry M - Cotton // Barry M - Almond // Barry M - Pink Lemonade // Barry M - Olive // Barry M - Peanut Butter // Barry M - Dragon Fruit // Barry M - Acai Smoothie // Barry M - Pink Punch // A England - Briar Rose

Firstly choosing my top three;

Peanut Butter is quite a unique polish in my collection, its not an orange, yellow or peach or really a nude either.

Briar Rose, this was an easy choice because it is the only holographic polish in this category. I like how it is a pink polish but is also more dusky in tone.

However the winner of this round is Cotton, a basic cream formula white polish. I chose this as the winner because it is such a good, opaque white polish.
