Nails: Autumnal Needle Drag

I saw some seasonal nail polish release colours and it inspired me to create a autumnal needle drag set of nails using polishes I already own. I hadn't thought it was three years since I last used the technique! [2016 Autumnal Needle Drag] I didn't really like these nails and so added some stamping later on.

Nails: Top 5 Autumn / Fall Polishes

Here are my top five nail polish for autumn 2015, if you are interested you can see the 2014 version and 2013 version.

 Barry M - Mustard // Barry M - Paprika // Barry M - Chilli // Leighton Denny - Chestnut Charm // ELF - Green Machine

First up I have Barry M Mustard, I think this colour is probably like Marmite. A very mustard colour, which reminds me of the 70's. I wouldn't wear this colour as it is but I really think it is great for autumn. I'd use this as a base for nail art.

Another polish from Barry M, I think the 2014 autumn gelly collection was really on point for the time of year. This one is Paprika, it is a red tinged brown, burnt orange colour, looking deep red in some lights and light brown in others.

Next is Barry M Chilli which is a gorgeous maroon, similar to Paprika but more red. Very much the colours which leaves go before falling off.

The next one is Leighton Denny Chestnut Charm, the only shimmer I chose. I like this one because it again is a red toned brown, again similar to autumn leaves. Has a shimmer to it going from red to brown. This would be one I would wear as it is, a little more interesting than a cream finish polish.

Finally I have ELF Green Machine, a cream deep pine green colour.

Nails: Autumn Leaves

Generally I'm not a fan of frost finish polishes but I thought the MUA Stormy Skies colour went well with the Autumn theme. I used Barry M's Mango and ELF's Fire Coral to create a gradient on my ring and thumb nail. Then I painted over the gradient with Sinful Colors' All About You, then finally stamped over with some leaves from Bundle Monsters BMH11.

Nails: Top 5 Autumn / Fall Polishes 2014

I did a post like this one last year, you can see it here if you are interested. Now that it is officially Autumn I thought I would share my top five polishes for this season.

Barry M - Crush // Leighton Denny - Be Unique // ELF - Fire Coral // Barry M - Indigo // Miss Sporty - Rain Drop 470

First I have Barry M's Matte Crush, which is a deep burgundy matte shade which also looks great with a shiny topcoat over the top.

Then Leighton Denny's Be Unique which is a browny / rusty shimmer colour, you do need three coats to achieve opacity but it would also work layered over a red or an orange base.

ELF's Fire Coral, is a mid-orange cream polish which is perfect for Halloween nails and of course orange is a prominent colour in nature throughout autumn.

The deep purple is Barry M's Indigo, and is the perfect Cadbury purple. Very difficult to colour accurately photograph. The bottle shot and the photo of the skittle nails above aren't accurate, the photo below is much more true to life. It is a deep colour but not one which looks black and is easier to wear. I need to get a new bottle of this as I seem to be at the very end of this bottle.

Lastly I chose Miss Sporty's Rain Drop which is a dark green, something a little different from a pure black polish. Lovely and creamy and deep and the brush is quite flat and wide.

Nails: Top 5 Autumn / Fall Polishes 2013

I did a post similar to this for the spring, now that the seasons have officially changed I thought it was time to share my top five polishes for Autumn.

Barry M - Raspberry | Orly - Fowl Play | Models Own - Emerald Black | Rimmel - Metal Rush Purple Reign | Sinful Colors - Courtney Orange

First is a gorgeous berry polish, it leans towards the pink side in the sunlight but there is less of that around now it is autumn and so generally is a purple berry colour - Barry M Raspberry

Next is Orly Fowl Play, I don't wear this polish nearly enough! It is a deep purple in colour with green, red duochrome flakies running through it. With the flakies changing colour it is almost reminiscent or fireworks.

Another dark one, this is Models Own Emerald Black which is a blackened green a duochrome polish. Reminds me of those black beetles which have a beautiful green colour despite them being a disturbing sight to see in your house.

Autumn is all about the nights getting longer and the darkness and wrapping up warm. This polish is another duochrome (bit of a pattern here), a burgundy colour which changes to a royal purple colour depending on where the light is shining on it, Rimmel Metal Rush Purple Reign.

Finally we have a metallic orange polish, Sinful Colors Courtney Orange, great for those nails around Halloween time. Even if you were to wear black polish with this as a ring finger accent nail it would look great. A nod to the changes in the colours of the leaves on the trees. It is a lot more wearable than you would imagine, and perfect as a base for some nail art.
