Nail Polish Battle 2017: Orange and Red

Today I am looking back over my orange and red polishes from this year, I have seven polishes for this category.

Barry M - Papaya // Barry M - Satsuma // Barry M - Blood Orange // A England - Gloriana // A England - Rose Bower // Nails Inc - Marylebone Lane // Leighton Denny - Infatuation

Firstly I began by selecting my top three;

Blood Orange is more of a red based polish than a orange as the name suggests. Vibrant and bright red cream polish.

Gloriana is a shimmer burnt orange type of shade which I really liked for autumn, and is very unique in my collection.

However out of the three I particularly liked Rose Bower, a rich berry holographic shade. Which is why Rose Bower ended up being the winner of this round.

Stamping Plate: Bundle Monster Holiday Collection H01 (BMH01)

Bundle Monster have a collection called the 'Holiday Collection' which consists of 25 different plates. I have had these for a couple of years now and thought it was about time to get around to reviewing the set.

This stamping plate is backed with branded backing, so it doesn't have sharp edges, each plate has six images on them.

BM-H01 has four single images on them and two full nail designs. This plate is winter themed. All of the images stamped across well and I particularly like the reindeer image, he is very cute and I need to use it this year.

You can see all of the nail art I used this plate in here, once I have used it that is!

Swatch: Barry M - Extravagant (Superdrug Limited Edition)

This polish was part of a duo including a matte lip paint in Signature. At first glance it looks similar to Barry M's Sparkling Amethyst however Amethyst is more pure deep purple and this more red toned purple.

Nail Polish Battle 2017: Black and Silver

Seeing as it is almost the end of 2017 it is time for my annual nail polish battle. Always interesting to look back over the year at the new polishes I have gotten and seeing which ones are my favourites.

So since last years nail polish battle I have 53 new nail polishes and today I am looking at black and silver ones of which we are starting with 10.

Barry M - Holographic Lights // Barry M - Icicle // A England - The Beggar Maid // A England - Heathcliff // A England - King Cophetua // A England - Incense Burner // A England - Nocturne // Barry M - Black Pistachio // Barry M - Black // Barry M - Black Forest

Firstly I began by selecting my top three;

Barry M - Holographic Lights // A England - Nocturne // Barry M - Black Forest

A England Nocturne is a gorgeous black polish with a holographic scattering in it.

Barry M Black Forest is a really good formula, opaque in almost one coat and a easy to use brush.

The winner of this round however is Holographic Lights, this is a great silver holographic polish. Something new and a bit different for the high street / drug store, and under £5.

Nails: Top 5 Winter Polishes 2017

Today I thought I would share my five polish picks for Winter 2017. I did a similar post last year which you can see here if you like.

A England - In Robe and Crown // Avon - Opalescent // Barry M - Blue Jade // Ciate - Cabaret // W7 - Metallic Mercury

Index | Avon - Opal Top Coat
Middle | A England - In Robe and Crown
Ring | Barry M - Blue Jade
Little | Ciate - Cabaret
Thumb | W7 - Metallic Mercury

Avon - Opalescent - I chose this one as it is something a little different to the traditional glitter polishes you would expect at this time of year. It is a chunky flakie polish, which I like layered over a black base.

A England - In Robe and Crown - This is a stunning aubergine holographic polish, deep but interesting which again is something a bit special.

Barry M - Blue Jade - A new addition to my collection, this isn't anything spectacular as with the previous two, however this is a dusky blue shade which isn't vivid and in your face as some blue polishes. This one would be great for winter sweater nails.

Ciate - Cabaret again along the same lines as Blue Jade, this one is a deep purple but not too dark that it just looks black. This again would look good with winter nail art or even a glitter gradient.

W7 - Metallic Mercury, I chose this one as it is a glass flecked duochrome. Recently Nails Inc has brought out some 'Dirty Unicorn' polishes and I think this one is a dupe for one of those, Rainbow Hooves. My photo is dated (2013) and doesn't really show the colour change.
