Nail Polish Comparison: Max Factor Fantasy Fire Vs DRK PuriFire

DRK PurFire was inspired by Max Factor Fantasy Fire, as I already owned Fantasy Fire I thought I would quickly compare the two polishes;

Both polishes are similar in that they both have the same inner aurora glow quality.
I used four coats of FF and three for PuriFire. The base of PuriFire is slightly more opaque with a indigo jelly base.

Overall the polishes are comparable but not dupes for one another.

Sunday Stamping: Plate Ending in 6

Really not sure why one finger looks a different colour to the rest! All of them looked the same to me. This is for the challenge using a stamping plate ending in the number 6.

Polishes: ELF - Lilac, Max Factor - Fantasy Fire
Stamping Plate: Cheeky CH46
Stamping Polish: Stargazer - Silver Chrome

Nail Polish: Battle of the Duochrome

Lots of W7 making this round along with Fantasy Fire
W7 - Metallic Saturn , Accesorize - Aztec, Essence - Chic Reloaded, W7 - Metallic Mars , W7 - Metallic Venus , Max Factor - Fantasy Fire, W7 - Metallic Mercury , W7 - Metallic Jupiter

I had a damaged bottle of Fantasy Fire and ended up putting that along with a back up in a empty bottle. That made the cut along with W7's Metallic Jupiter which is a nice dark petrol on water tone and Essence's Chic Reloaded which is a subtle, more wearable duochome.

And the winner is, surprisingly not Fantasy Fire! W7 has mastered the 'petrol on water' polish and I really like this and when I wear it I am always looking at my nails and wiggling my fingers to see the duochrome change.

Swatch: Max Factor - Fantasy Fire

This is Max Factor's Fantasy Fire, allegedly a dupe for Clarins 230 more commonly known as 'Unicorn Pee'

Swatch-Max-Factor-Fantasy-Fire-Clarins-230-Unicorn-Pee

Clarins no longer sells the 230 but in the bottle (12ml) it looks like a duochrome which shifts from a red copper to a blue / green / purple. The Max Factor (4.5ml) also look like that in the bottle, quite multi faceted

With Fantasy Fire the effect on the nail is less so, which is a little disappointing. In photos I have seen of the Clarins this is also the case. I think that the two are really compatible and seeing as 230 is discontinued Fantasy Fire is a perfect dupe.

Lasting Power: Average
Opacity: Very sheer, 4 coats. A layering polish
Brush Type: Little bottle comes with a little brush

Fantasy Fire is a very much hyped up, the polish itself is quite sheer and ideal for layering. In the bottle it looks purple to a red, green, and blue tone. However on the nail it is less impressive as it doesn't translate across well. Depending on what polish you layer this with would alter the colour shift in the overall duochrome look polish.
