Nail Polish Battle 2022: Toppers and Glitters

Today's battle is glitters and topper polishes, I have 12 in this category;

Barry M Meringue // Rimmel Mermaid Fin // FUN Amethyst // DRK Splendor // Nails Inc Taken for Granite // Orly Bubbly Bombshell // Deborah Lippmann Razzle Dazzle // Fancy Gloss Candy Cane // Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe // Fancy Gloss Sapphire Shards // Deborah Lippmann Bad Romance // Bright and Polished Black Dots

This category is a catch all for anything slightly different, so it's difficult to pit a shimmer topper against a glitter or thermal. After some thinking the following are my top three;

Amethyst ended up in third place, it is a ghost flakie topper in a amethyst colour. It looks particularly nice over a black.

Candy Cane is a glitter thermal, going from pink to red with red and white glitters. It's very much a Christmas appropriate polish.

The winner of this round is Sapphire Shards, which is another thermal going from light blue to dark blue with small blue flakies within. Rather than specifically Christmas appropriate this can be worn during winter and throughout the year.

Nails: Top 5 Winter Polishes 2021

As yesterday was Yule, the Winter Solstice signalling the start of the official winter season in the Northern Hemisphere I thought now would be a good time to share my top five winter polishes. I have done similar blog posts in previous years 2020 (here), 2019 (here), 2018 (here), 2017 (here) and 2016 (here).

Gold Rush is a straight up metallic gold polish, very vivid but seasonal.

White Moonstone is new to my collection, a white textured polish with a slight sparkle to it. A white is always good for nail art around this time of year, having texture to it is something a bit different.

Candy Cane is another new to my collection polish, it is a thermal going between light pink and red with red and white glitter pieces. Almost like nail art in a bottle.

Icicle is a silver holographic bar glitter with micro glitter particles in it. For me this might be more New Year appropriate but anytime in December holographic polish would work.

Finally Proserpine, which is a darker green holographic polish. Green is a shade I lean towards in December, as this is holographic is adds something extra to a cream green.
