Nails: Top 5 Autumn / Fall Polishes 2014

I did a post like this one last year, you can see it here if you are interested. Now that it is officially Autumn I thought I would share my top five polishes for this season.

First I have Barry M's Matte Crush, which is a deep burgundy matte shade which also looks great with a shiny topcoat over the top.

Then Leighton Denny's Be Unique which is a browny / rusty shimmer colour, you do need three coats to achieve opacity but it would also work layered over a red or an orange base.

ELF's Fire Coral, is a mid-orange cream polish which is perfect for Halloween nails and of course orange is a prominent colour in nature throughout autumn.

The deep purple is Barry M's Indigo, and is the perfect Cadbury purple. Very difficult to colour accurately photograph. The bottle shot and the photo of the skittle nails above aren't accurate, the photo below is much more true to life. It is a deep colour but not one which looks black and is easier to wear. I need to get a new bottle of this as I seem to be at the very end of this bottle.

Lastly I chose Miss Sporty's Rain Drop which is a dark green, something a little different from a pure black polish. Lovely and creamy and deep and the brush is quite flat and wide.

SIMPLES: Watercolour

The Crumpet has a challenge going, to help teach nail art from the simple to the master.

So week 10 is upon us and the task to master is a technique called 'watercolour' which is you dilute the polish with acetone, spreading the polish around so it looks a bit like water colour art. Here are my examples:

Stamping Plate: Bundle Monster 311 (BM311)

Review-Bundle-Monster-311-BM311

This stamping plate is from the third Bundle Monster set, from 2012. It is backed with branded lining to stop it from being sharp. This is useful, without it it is easy to slice open your fingers and palms which I have been known to do accidentally in the past with other stamping plates.

On this stamping plate there are four full nail images, and two single images. All of these stamped well. Below are some nails I did using this plate:

GOT: Brown

Because the 'petals' were an iridescent polish they didn't show up too well with a holographic topcoat on top. Today's Golden Oldie Thursday challenge is the last one, the brown polish I used was ELF's Chocolate which I originally got around June 2010, although I have repurchased it since then.
