Nails: Top 5 Summer Polishes 2023

Summer Solstice was last Wednesday and so I should get around to sharing my top summer polishes for 2022. These are the polishes from my collection I will be reaching for more often.

If you are interested you can see my summer picks for 2022 here2021 here2020 here2019 here2018 here2017 here2015 here and 2014 here.

Orly Plastic Jungle - A vivid green cream colour, opaque in two coats. Also very hard to photograph accurately.

Orly Connect the Dots - A warm almost neon peach cream, surprised at how much I liked this one. Bright and summery in two coats.

Nails Inc Baker Street - A classic within the nail polish realm, cream two coater mid blue. A similar blue would be Barry M Blue Guava.

Emily de Molly Rock Solid - The flakie of my picks, a blue base with blue purple iridescent flakes.

Tonic Polish Jinx - Finally is Jinx a very holographic silver polish, two coats and has a very clear rainbow flair reflection to it.

Nail Polish Swatch: Tonic Polish - Jinx

I used my original GOSH Holographic again and I am getting low on it and so wanted to find a similar polish to that one. Born Pretty Store Zeus Sword is a good one as well as this one. Neither of which are exact dupes, the holographic pieces are a lot finer in GOSH Holographic, but both this and the BPS one are very good.

Nail Polish Battle 2020: Winner!

Finally I am reaching the end of the 2020 battle!

The last round we ended up with the top three polishes, Jinx, Magma and Eclipse;

For me the first polish to eliminate was Jinx, it is a stunning polish, strong holographic silver.

Choosing between the top two polishes was very difficult! In the end coming in at number two was Magma, I like all of the different autumnal colours the flakies show. Only came second because it is a topper rather than a polish you can wear as is.

Which means that the winner of 2020 nail polish battle is ILNP Eclipse. I think it was the first of a kind with its multichrome deep red pigment. It is incredibly distracting when wearing it as it changes colours in different lights, and different finger positions. 2020 was a year that called for distraction and that is why Eclipse won.

Nail Polish Battle 2020: Top 3

Having completed all of the seven colour categories the following polishes won each round;

Tonic - Jinx // UberChic - If You've Got it Haunt it // Barry M - French Rose // Fancy Gloss - Magma // Danglefoot - The First Avenger // ILNP - Eclipse // UberChic - Say Boo and Scary On

Harder to chose my top three as they were all already up there in favourite tier. Jinx is a very holographic silver polish and the other two are both darker shifty duochromes.

Nail Polish Battle 2020: Green and Yellow

Today is a battle of green, yellow, nude, gold and silver. The hodgepodge of polish colours!

Choosing my top three wasn't too difficult in this category. First of all is Iced Latte, something I have been reaching for a lot for nail art.

Glowstick is very much a highlighter yellow, very bright and something I specifically had to go look for this year when I realised I didn't own a shade like this.

Which means that Jinx is the winner, another one I had to specifically look for as I almost used up my original GOSH Holographic. While this isn't a dupe it is pretty stunning all the same.

I was too warm the day I was taking these photos! Had to run my hand under cold water to make the thermal polish go dark.

Topic Tuesday: Unconventional Autumnal Polishes

I think for me an unconventional polish for autumn could be holographics because particularly here (northern England) there isn't a lot of bright sunlight for around six months. Holo's do look amazing in direct sunlight so that is why it may be unconventional.
