Nail Polish Battle 2021: Winner!

Finally today I am working out which polish won the 2021 battle.

The top three polishes were Bow Blinder, Aj Nails Venus and Danglefoot Cyclops.

First polish I eliminated was Aj Nails Venus, it really is autumn in a polish with it's colour shifts.

In second place is Bow Blinder, which has a light reactive finish which is something new to my collection. The reason it only came second is it's a glitter finish and so harder to remove than a cream polish.

Which means that Danglefoot Cyclops is the winner of my nail polish battle 2021. I chose this as the winner as the base is a beautiful indigo jelly finish. The copper flakes go well with it and stand out against the indigo base. I like to layer it over Barry M Indigo to get an opaque polished look.

Nail Polish Battle 2021: Top Three

These are all of the winners from each round;

Bow - Blinder // Barry M - Boysenberry // Orly - Plastic Jungle // Aj Nails - Venus // Danglefoot - Cyclops // Whatcha - Heart of the Ocean

Halving this category was tricky as they are all my top polishes from 2021;

I chose Bow Blinder because the finish was something new to my collection as it is light reactive.

Aj Nails Venus as it is something I have been wearing a lot throughout autumn.

And lastly Danglefoot Cyclops as I really like the colour combination of the indigo base and copper flakes.

I'm still not sure which is going to be the best polish purchase in 2021!

Nail Polish Battle 2021: Grey, Blue and Black

 So far I have looked back at purple polishesnude and brown polishespink, red, orange and yellow polishesglitter polishes and green polishes, today is all the grey, blue and black polishes that joined my collection in 2021.

Barry M - Aronia Berry // Barry M - Charcoal // Barry M - Berry Pie // Barry M - Blue Margarita // Barry M - Salt Lake // Prism Polish - New Year, New Meh // By Dany Vianna - Starry Sky // A England - The Waves // Whatcha - Heart of the Ocean // Barry M - Night Sky // Danglefoot - Oh Plesiosaur // Rimmel - Moonlight Magic // ILNP - Eclipse (H) // A England - Orlando // Rimmel - Matte Black

By Dany Vianna Starry Sky, I hadn't tried any polishes by this brand but this one is really beautiful. All of the people I have asked have known exactly which art piece inspired the polish, Starry Night Van Gogh. It was part of August's Polish Pick Up and the theme for that was the elements. A sheer jelly base with glitters and star glitters.

Barry M Night Sky is a straightforward navy cream, part of the Green Origin line, paddle brush and opaque in two coats. I like this polish as a base for nail art, layering other polishes over, it is a deep blue but still clearly a blue rather than a black.

Which leaves Whatcha Heart of the Ocean as the winner. Another from Polish Pick Up, the theme of this one was 'The Nineties' and in particular the film Titanic. The polish is a deep blue base, packed with blue flakes and holo glitter. I like the depth of colour in this polish, and it just like the colour of the jewellery dropped back in to the ocean towards the end of the movie.

Nail Polish Battle 2021: Purple

Today I am looking at purple polishes, I have added 22 new purple's to my collection which is the largest category in this 'battle'.

Essie - Saltwater Happy // Barry M - Lilac Orchid // Barry M - Palma Violet // Emily de Molly - Rock Solid // Prism Polish - Cortinarius // Orly - Synthetic Symphony // Painted Polish - Right As Rainbows // Quixotic Polish - Morning Glory // Girly Bits - Where My Demons Hide // Aj Nails - Purpleous // Barry M - Plum Jam

As there were so many purple polishes choosing my top three was very difficult;

Right As Rainbows was a surprisingly good polish, it was part of July 2021 rewind Polish Pick Up. It is a cornflower crelly base with iridescent multichrome flakes. I usually prefer darker polishes but this one is quite special and the flakes make it glowy, it has a flat and wide brush and takes two coats for full opacity.

Next is Virginia Woolf which is much more a 'me' shade, it is part of the Moments With Virginia collection. The holographic polish was a one coater and the brush is a paddle shape. Virginia Woolf is a deep garnet shade, more of a berry colour than a straight up red or pink.

And so the winner of this battle is Danglefoot Cyclops, it was so hard to choose between this and the A England. Cyclops was part of the X-Men Hero collection, and the brush is flat and wide. It is a jelly indigo base with copper flakes within it. It is shown below with two coats but I prefer to wear it layered over an indigo polish such as Barry M Indigo as I don't like jelly polishes on myself.

Nail Polish Battle 2021: Nude and Brown

Previously I looked at the pink, red, orange and yellow polishesgreen polishesglitter polishes from 2021, today I am looking at brown and nude polishes.

Out of the ten polishes I worked out my top three;

Cappuccino was part of the Autumn 2021 Nude gelly collection, I chose this mid brown shade as its not too dark or too light. I think it a good basic cream polish. Comes with a paddle brush and is opaque in two coats.

I'm Gonna Wreck It! is a holographic brown polish which I liked wearing in autumn, it was part of the Under Appreciated Disney Holo's collection. It took two coats to achieve fully opacity and has a flat, wide brush.

Meaning the winner is; Aj Nails Venus This was a more recent purchase, I was looking for a duochrome polish with the same colour shift as the flakes in Fancy Gloss Magma, which came second in 2020 nail polish battle. This polish has a beautiful red, orange, green shift which I really liked wearing this past autumn.

Nail Polish Battle 2021: Pink, Red, Orange and Yellow

So far I have looked back at glitter polishes and green polishes, today is all the pink, red, orange and yellow polishes that joined my collection in 2021.

ILNP - Funshine Smoothie // Barry M - Pineapple Punch // Barry M - Apricot Tart // Barry M - Spicy Mango // Barry M - Hot Chilli // Barry M - Watermelon Juice // Barry M - Cranberry // Barry M - Boysenberry // Barry M - Red Sea // Rimmel - Darkest Desires // Barry M - Goji Berry

Choosing the top three of these was tricky as there were more of them;

I purchased Funshine Smoothie as I wanted to do a holographic rainbow and didn't have yellow holographic polish. This is a yellow which does lean towards gold, it took two coats and has a flatterned brush.

Barry M Spicy Mango was part of the Summer 2021 gelly collection, it is a burnt orange, almost a rust shade. Two coats with a paddle brush for easy application. It's quite a unique shade to my collection as it isn't a standard orange polish.

So the winner is Boysenberry, which compared to other shades in this round almost looks purple but it is a pink. I looked the colour name up and it said "pizza edge". I like this polish, it is nice vibrant, the brush is the newer paddle style and was part of the Green Origin line.
