Topic Tuesday: Only 10 Polishes from Collection?

With owning over 700 polishes it is difficult to only choose 10 polishes to keep. I think the easiest way to choose would be to look at the winners of my previous nail polish battles where I chose the best new polish to my collection every year for over a decade now. I still can't choose a 10th polish though!

Nail Polish Battle: Polish of the Decade (2011 - 2021)

Since 2011 I have gone through my collection and picked out my favourite polish of each year, this post is looking back at the past winners and working out my polish of the decade. I still have all but one of the polishes, Models Own Gun Grey which I used up so excuse the dodgy photo editing!

I looked over my polishes and chose these as the top three;

First of the three to be eliminated is Facets of Fuchsia, only because it is a glitter and I don't like removing those.

In second place is Goth, while I do really like this polish it is very dark and in standard lighting it tends to look black. Whereas in direct light you can tell it is both holographic and deep, deep purple.

Which means the winner of this is In Robe and Crown! This polish is similar to Goth but in all lighting you can tell it is supposed to be a dark purple, when in direct sunlight it has a beautiful holographic flair to it.

GOT: Indie

I always seem to forget that A England is an indie brand, the polishes, packaging and service are all up there with shop bought polishes.

Sunday Stamping: Over a Holo Base

For this I used A England's Sleeping Palace on my thumb, fore finger and middle finger. Then used Encore Margot on my ring finger and little finger before stamping over those two with Sleeping Palace.

Nails: Bow Street

Seeing as the base of these nails are Nails Inc Bow Street I couldn't help but add a little bow to the nails!

GOT: Textured Nails

I used Barry M's Countess from October 2013, A England's Sleeping Palace from August 2013 and A England's Ascalon from July 2013.

For these nails I began by doing a gradient with A England Ascalon and Sleeping Palace. This turned out to be a very subtle gradient. I then added some striping tape and used Barry M's textured Countess over the top of the striping tape and then I removed the tape revealing the pattern below.

As soon as I got Nails Inc Bow Street I just had to use it, a completely stunning deep purple glitter polish.

The top three of these polishes for me would be: Despite there being a lot of Barry M the top three surprisingly don't appear in there. I do think that Barry M does deserve an honourable mention as during 2013 the brand brought out hit after hit (excluding the sequin texture trio). Clearly though 2013 was the year of the holographic's runner up polishes are...

3) Layla - Flash Black - This polish is so stunning, it has a strong holo running through it and it dances even when not in direct sunlight.

2) Essie - Leading Lady - This polish is a great festive red, has a subtle glitter running through it which makes it festive without it being over the top.

And finally the top polish of 2013 is...

1) A England's Sleeping Palace from the Burne-Jones Dream collection. I like this one because it has a purple tone to it and of course it is a lovely holographic finish. The formula is perfect and the brush works fantastically. An A England polish came in at number two last year which goes to show how stunning, and works of art these polishes are.
