Review: Maybelline - Dr. Rescue Peel Off Base Coat

I bought this in 2017 tried it once and it spent the next four years gathering dust.

When I first used this I didn't like it, it didn't help my polish pop off. But if I hold a cotton ball soaked with polish remover on the nail it helps to loosen the polish at the base of the nail and then I can peel off the glitter polish.

There is no scrubbing for hours to remove glitter and actually this base coat not popping off it can be a good thing if you want to wear your polish for a few days.

The neck on this polish is quite long which makes it harder to use, the above photo should show that. Especially difficult the further down the bottle you get.

Maybelline is a mainstream brand and as such is easier to purchase than something from an indie brand.

I still prefer UNT, however this isn't awful and I have almost finished using this bottle.

Topic Tuesday: Favourite Summer Stamping Plate

So far this year I seem to have been reaching for XL-001 from Beauty Big Bang. It is a rectangle plate with large images which are good for longer nails. It has fruit, shells and leaves on it.

Nails: Top 5 Summer Polishes 2021

Summer Solstice will be next Monday and so I should get around to sharing my top summer polishes for 2021. These are the polishes from my collection I will be reaching for more often.

If you are interested you can see my summer picks for 2020 here2019 here2018 here2017 here2015 here and 2014 here.

Barry M - Pineapple Punch // Dystopia - Couldn't Miss This One This Year // Orly - Synthetic Symphony // Polish Me Silly - Glow Girl // AJ Nails - Peacock

Barry M Pineapple Punch this polish was released earlier this year and its very bright yellow, clearly not neon but bright enough.

Dystopia Couldn't Miss This One This Year is a photochromatic polish which means in sunlight it changes colour. Great for summer as there isn't much sunlight here the rest of the year.

Orly Synthetic Symphony is a bright purple polish, quite bold and very difficult to photograph.

Polish Me Silly Glow Girl a flakie topper, I like it over black as it shows off the blue, purple, pink colour shift.

AJ Nails Peacock is very much a neon green, one that is opaque in two coats and no white base coat required.
